Mud Sweat and Gears offers various Tune-up packages and repair services to best suit the needs of your bike and your budget! With no appointment necessary you may bring your bike by for our mechanics to perform a free inspection and quote for the repair of your bike. Our service departments are first come first serve, be sure to plan well ahead of time in the spring in summer.
All e-bikes are subject to the e-bike surcharge fee of $39.99 on top of any work being done. This premium labour charge must be upheld because of the difficult nature of working on e-bikes/e-bike components such as increased weight, more complexity to nearly every task and a longer labour time to complete jobs.
Bikes purchased from Mud Sweat and Gears all come with 1-year of complimentary tunes:
Brakes: Adjust cable tension (make both levers pull the same amount), adjust brake shoe height, angle and “Toe-in” and confirm center orientation on rim./ Adjust disc brake caliper to ensure clearance of rotor. Straighten rotor if possible. First brake bleed covered(if necessary).(Brake cables and casings are extra if needed).
Drivetrain: Check and adjust derailleur limit screws, cable tension, height and angle of front and rear derailleurs. Align derailleur hanger.
General: Check/adjust/tighten; stem, handlebar, seat, controls, seat post, pedals, and crankarms.
Lubricate: Lubricate drivetrain and derailleur pivots.
Tires: Fill tires to maximum stated air pressure (Does not cover flat repairs).
Wheels: Adjust front and rear hub bearings as needed, true front and rear wheels as needed(Additional costs for broken spokes/major wheel trues). Secure axle nuts/or QR skewers.
*Additional labour charges will apply for any parts and accessory installations. Shop supplies, parts and GST are extra.
We recommend the Basic Tune for bikes that need multiple adjustments and a general tune:
Brakes: Adjust cable tension (make both levers pull the same amount), adjust brake shoe height, angle and “Toe-in” and confirm center orientation on rim. Adjust disc brake caliper to ensure clearance of rotor. Straighten rotor if possible. (Brake bleeds extra, brake cable and casing extra).
Clean: Wipe down of bike, wheels, and components.

Frame: Clean and inspect frame, dropouts and fork for fatigue or damage.
General: Check/adjust/tighten; stem, handlebar, seat, controls, seat post, pedals, and crankarms.
Lubricate: Lubricate drivetrain and derailleur pivots.
Tires: One flat repair/tire installation covered. (Not included for hub drive E-Bike wheels). Fill tires to recommended stated air pressure.
Wheels: Secure axle nuts/or skewers. (Wheel truing and spoke replacements extra).

Brakes: Pad/rotor bed in process.
BB/Cranks: Check/adjust bottom bracket. Ensure cranks are tight/adjusted. (Installation extra).
Clean: Complete wash and wipe down of bike, wheels, and components.
Headset: Check for proper headset bearing adjustment, adjust as needed.
Installations: Install of most parts and accessories covered.(Chain, cassette, brake pads, cables/housing, tires/tubes, grips, handlebars/stems).
Tires: Flat repair/installation of front and rear tire. (Hub drive E-Bike wheels extra).
Wheels: Adjust front and rear hub bearings, true front and rear wheels both radially and laterally as possible, check/adjust spoke tension as needed. (Spoke replacement extra).

We recommend the Overhaul Tune for bikes that need many parts replaced:
In addition to the Annual Tune this package includes:
Brakes: Includes brake bleeds or replacement of brake cable and casing.
Clean: Complete tear down of bike and all components for degreasing/cleaning, re-greasing, and re-assembly.
Drivetrain: Remove and degrease all drivetrain components. Inspect for wear, re-grease, reassemble and adjust. (Includes replacing all gear cables and casings).
Dropper Posts: Cable actuated dropper post: new cable/casing and re-grease. (Includes new cable and casing). (Rockshox Reverbs and Fox Transfers extra service may be required).
Frame: Includes labour for replacing frame pivot bearings. (Parts extra).
Headset: Clean, inspect, reinstall and grease with new bearings if required. (Cartridge style bearing parts extra).
Paint Protection: 25% discount on paint protection installation service. (Labour only).
Suspension: Labour cost of fork lower service and shock overhaul service is covered. (Parts extra, outsourced service is extra).
Tires: Tubeless setup labour included. (Parts and supplies extra).
Wheels: Clean and inspect hub parts, re-grease, install new ball/cartridge bearings and parts and adjust. (Where possible/as required). (Cartridge bearings extra). (Single spoke replacements included).

Due to restrictions on our insurance and limited waranty support, we only provide servicing on the following motor systems: Bosch, Shimano, Specialized, Fazua, Bafang, Sram, Brose and Hyena.
This means we do NOT work on the electrical components of bicycle motor systems we do not carry and reserve the right to refuse servicing equipment due to damage, faulty components or hazard to the technician or staff completing work on the bike.
Note as well that when you book your electric bicycle (no matter what brand) in for service at Mud Sweat and Gears, you will be required to sign a waiver. By signing this waiver you are indemnifying Mud, Sweat And Gears of any and all potential issues related to the e-bike system prior to, during or after service has been completed.
Please note that Mud Sweat and Gears is not liable or responsible for any labor charges, diagnostic fees, or materials incurred by other shops or service providers. Labor credits or compensation are not guaranteed in warranty situations, as manufacturers may only cover the replacement of defective components.
