Relay Features
The Relay is designed as two bikes in one. Thanks to its modular system, it can be ridden with the battery installed for a powered eMTB experience, or with the battery removed to function like a traditional mountain bike. This versatility makes it ideal for travel, especially when your riding plans include a mix of eMTB-legal and non-eMTB-legal areas. The tool-free battery door allows you to remove or reinstall the battery within seconds.
Despite its dual-purpose design, the Relay remains lightweight and purpose built. It weighs approximately 42.5 lb (19.27 kg) with the battery and around 37.5 lb (17.01 kg) without it. Every model in the lineup is equipped with components intended for aggressive riding.
Relay vs. Relay PNW
The Relay and Relay PNW share the same frame design. A lower shock flip chip adjusts the geometry to accommodate either a 27.5" or 29" rear wheel. Both versions can be set up with 160 mm or 170 mm of travel, and run either dual 29" wheels or a mixed-wheel configuration. Riders who want a lighter, trail-oriented feel may choose the Relay with dual 29" wheels and 160 mm travel. Those who prefer a more aggressive, downhill-focused setup may gravitate toward the Relay PNW, featuring 170 mm travel and mixed wheels. Both remain among the lighter, heavy-hitting eMTBs available today.
Fazua Ride 60 Motor
The Relay is powered by the lightweight Fazua Ride60 drive unit, which produces 60 Nm of torque and weighs just 4.3 lb (1.96 kg). Its minimal drag and excellent power-to-weight ratio provide a natural experience, even when pedaling without assistance. As you surpass the motor's speed cutoff, the system does not penalize the rider with added resistance, unlike many traditional eMTBs. The combined performance of the 430 Wh battery, torque delivery, power output, and overall bike weight creates a riding experience that surpasses expectations.
Fazua Ride 60 Battery
The 430 Wh battery weighs 4.85 lb (2.2 kg) and can be removed easily through the tool-free battery door beneath the downtube. Charging occurs off the bike, making it ideal for riders with challenging storage or charging setups. This simplified system also reduces frame complexity and increases overall durability.
Fazua Ring Controller
The ergonomic ring controller allows effortless adjustment of power modes. A gentle upward push increases assistance, while a downward push decreases it. Pressing inward activates walk mode. Holding the controller upward for two seconds activates Boost Mode, delivering peak power for approximately ten seconds.
LED Hub
A sleek LED display on the top tube provides power mode and battery life indications. The Relay offers three assistance modes, each represented by a color:
• Breeze Mode (Green): Efficient and tuned for varied terrain, not just commuting to the trailhead.
• River Mode (Blue): Matches the rider's effort — soft pedaling provides minimal help, while hard pedaling delivers maximum available support.
• Rocket Mode (Pink): Maximum power for steep climbs and technical terrain, at the cost of reduced range.
Fazua Ride60 App
The Fazua Ride60 app connects to the Relay via Bluetooth and allows complete customization of all assistance modes. Riders can adjust Max Power and Support Relation to control mechanical output and torque for each mode. Support Relation fine-tunes how much assistance the motor provides relative to rider effort. Ramp Up settings determine how quickly assistance engages, giving riders the ability to tune responsiveness for more aggressive power delivery or greater efficiency. Whether you prioritize speed, control, or maximum range, the app offers a full suite of tuning options.
